Thoughtfully developed ponies and horses trained for confidence, safety, and performance - for riders who expect reliability and quality.
Alexa
Alexa’s training philosophy was built in the most demanding way possible - by bringing a horse back from the brink and developing her into a champion. Before training ponies at A&M, Alexa became known for her partnership with Satins Angel, an off-track Thoroughbred found at the Sugarcreek Auction after being passed between trainers and nearly sold for slaughter.Satin was terrified, scarred, head-shy, and anxious around people. She had every reason not to trust anyone. Alexa saw something different. She saw a mare with heart.Over years of consistent work - daily handling, quiet patience, rebuilding basic skills, exposure, encouragement, and an unwavering sense of safety, Alexa transformed Satin into one of the most successful Thoroughbred jumpers in the country. Together they earned wins at the Kentucky National Horse Show, topped Zone 5 standings for multiple years, and became a nationally recognized example of what trust-based training makes possible. What made Satin special wasn’t just her talent. It was the confidence she gained from Alexa. The mare who once feared human touch eventually pressed her head into Alexa’s chest, willingly followed her through pressure situations, and jumped anything placed in front of her because she believed in her rider. That experience shaped everything Alexa does at A&M Ponies. She specializes in developing ponies that are not only athletic and capable of winning in the jumper ring, but emotionally safe, reliable, and trustworthy for children. The patience, feel, and consistency required to bring Satin along now define her entire program. Every pony is trained with the same mindset:Build trust first. Build confidence second. Build talent third. This is why families and trainers trust Alexa’s ponies. Her background isn’t theoretical or textbook - it’s proven in the arena, proven under pressure, and proven by a horse who had every reason to fail but became a champion under her care.At A&M Ponies, that same level of commitment, consistency, and emotional awareness goes into every pony we develop.
Our Family
A&M Ponies is built on our family’s commitment to doing things the right way - with care, intention, and the understanding that great ponies come from a great environment. In early 2025, we purchased eight acres in Marengo, Ohio to build the home base for our program: a custom barn, training arena, and facilities designed around the daily needs and long-term development of the ponies in our care.Every detail of our property was chosen to support a higher standard of training and well-being. From individualized programs to consistent groundwork, conditioning, turnout, and exposure, our ponies receive attentive, round-the-clock care. We work closely with our veterinarians, farrier, and equine massage therapist to make sure each pony is healthy, comfortable, and prepared to succeed - mentally and physically.Alexa is a Senior Electrical Engineer specializing in power systems - a career that demands precision, problem-solving, and consistency, the same qualities she brings to producing safe, confident ponies. Her background with Satin, an abused OTTB she rebuilt into a champion, shaped the foundation of A&M’s training philosophy: patience, understanding, and trust before anything else.Sean manages his family’s logistics company and oversees the business, operations, and long-term strategy for A&M. His experience running a high-growth organization is what allows the program to be structured, professional, reliable, and built for expansion.Together, we’re building A&M Ponies as more than a training program - it’s a long-term vision for a top-tier development facility, created from the ground up with intention.A&M is also home to our three dogs - Miley, Ottis, and Athena - who supervise turnout, greet visitors, and believe they are just as important to barn operations as anyone else. They are part of the heart of our farm and appear throughout our website because, of course, they insisted.
